What We’re Loving: For Breakfast

Although my mom cooked outstanding traditional dishes growing up (yes, I’m talking meatloaf, flank steak and green bean casserole), I would just flip to hear her say those magic words:  breakfast-for-dinner.  I know, it was just pancakes and sausage at 7 p.m. instead of 7 a.m., but somehow this morning-to-night swap was a culinary highlight for me.  These days, I would eat these breakfast themed dishes from some of our favorite food bloggers any time of day (or night):

- Risotto coupled with the morning staples of bacon and eggs?  Bacon, Egg and Leek Risotto is a breakfast for dinner I’d be proud to serve. {from Smitten Kitchen}

- Donuts are, well, one of my favorite foods.  Donut Cake?  Genius.  {from The Wednesday Chef, originally by Catherine Newman}

- Squash blossoms are so pretty and I never would have thought to toss them into a quiche.  Until now.  Squash Blossom Quiche with Feta and Basil sounds perfect for my next brunch. {from Tartelette}

- When you don’t feel like doing much more than toasting a bagel, this Salmon Spread looks like it will do the trick for a tasty breakfast or lunch. {from Nectar}

- Looking for one more great way to incorporate rhubarb?  Add it to breakfast this time for these Hazelnut Pancakes with Roasted Rhubarb Cardamom Compote. {from Naturally Ella}

- Is it a cinnamon roll or a donut?  Who cares, it looks insanely delicious!  Plus, this Cinnamon Roll Almond Flour Donut is baked not fried (healthy donut, no?). {from Roost}

- Grits tend not to be on my breakfast (or dinner) plate.  But I sense that might change.  This Asparagus with Poached Egg over Grits sure does make a pretty plate. {from Happy Yolks}
