I finally picked up a pound of sweet Maine shrimp on Friday, to have our own little mini-holiday celebration before all the family arrives. I cooked them very quickly in boiling water flavored with lemon, brandy, savory, salt and a little old bay seasoning. It took only 2-3 minutes for them to plump up and take on a light pink color. These were fabulous with a cold beer and a squeeze of lemon. I may make this a weekly Friday ritual, as they’re only $5/lb at my local fish store. Plus, Maine shrimp season is only another two months.

We just had our first batch of sweet Maine shrimp. I have to say, not a fan. I feel like the flavor would be completely lost in Old Bay. They barely taste shrimpy, and the texture’s very soft…we boiled them very quickly in water with lemon and fennel. Served with a little dipping sauce and rice.

Oh, Jacqueline, I’m sorry you didn’t like them! We always think they’re a treat here – they’re not super “shrimpy” but sweet and fun.

Are you an oysters fan? I’m in love with them too and have been serving them for lots of cocktail parties lately…

LOVE oysters. Take a look at my “Wordy Girl Celebrates Birthday…” post.

Oh yeah. Could eat dozens upon dozens.

LOVE paella too. Friends on my floor keep saying we are going to do a Tapas/Paella dinner. Guess I better get on the stick and organize it! We had a blast at the Indian dinner. Did you see that slideshow? Mmm.

Okay..fresh bread out of the oven now.. must run!

    Cheers,
    Jacqueline
